The car is one of Hurley Haywood's favorites and rightfully so. He was lead driver for the 24 Hours at Daytona in 1977 along with John Graves and Dave Helmick. The 43 car with it's distinctive Brumos stripes but in blue and purple scored an upset win against the 935 turbos. Dubbed the Ecurie Escargot, French for "Team Snail" the slow but steady pace of the RSR proved too much for the turbos just coming online. Haywood knew as much going in and was proven right with the team's first place finish.
